March 2, 2015, Toms River, NJ and West Hartford, CT – Each year, the National Education Association honors the memory of Dr. Seuss and helps spread the love of reading among children throughout the United States with their Read Across America day, held each year on Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
American Institute students and staff got into the spirit this year with a Reading Party at the Toms River campus, where children joined us for an afternoon of Dr. Seuss story time. As the immortal Seuss himself would say, “You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child.”
The team in West Hartford also celebrated the day with a children’s book drive, gathering books from the community to donate to a local homeless family shelter.
Said Chief Operating Officer, Christopher Coutts, “Reading is fundamental to educational success, and I’m happy to have our teams support the efforts of the National Education Association as they work to bring reading to every child’s life. As educators, our passion is helping people learn and grow in their chosen career, and it’s our pleasure to support NEA’s Read Across America Day each year as they help children learn and grow through reading.”
